This delivery form, (German: Komprimate), is chosen above all for general painkillers or gastrointestinal complaints. By direct dissolution in the mucous membrane the active ingredient can reach the site of activity quickly, where it is promptly absorbed.
Komprimate are composed principally of dextrose or, in the case of sugar-free tablets, of sorbitol. The main substrate is mixed with other substances, such as aromas, pigments and lubricants, and is then supplemented with active ingredients or extracts. The powder is then pressed hard into various komprimate forms.
Subsequently, the tablets are packaged into blister packs and folded boxes with consumer information leaflets. Alongside this packaging solution, which is common in the pharmaceutical industry, we can also package tablets in bags, flip tops, bars or small plastic bottles.
